Marshmallows on the campfire with the kids - happy days!

“Isn’t it about time we remind ourselves of what’s important and we start to re:model how we look at our lives, our homes and how we all work together?”

I moved to the Bristol in 1987 from the Isle of Arran in Scotland to study Quantity Surveying. At 19 my first major assignment was in cost control and overseeing the refurbishment of Chippenham Railway Station. Since then I have built my experience in property renovation and development over the past 20 years.

In 2003, after the death of my Brother through Multiple Sclerosis I took a career break and my wife and I, together with our 22 month old daughter Rosie, travelled the world for 6 months exploring Canada, America, New Zealand and South Africa.

On our return in 2004 I had to follow my passion for design and I set up the award winning design and marketing agency 375. With the support of a talented team we were one of the first agencies in the UK to focus all our efforts in working at CEO and Director level advising on how businesses could become more sustainable and, by doing so, build more purposeful brands. Amongst many achievements in the Energy, Waste, Construction and Not-for-Profit sectors we were proud to have been appointed to brand the City of Bristol as European Green Capital 2015 and engage its 500,000 citizens around building a more sustainable City.

Now I have brought together my careers in marketing and construction to build something new and exciting - Re:model - addressing some of the key challenges the UK faces around ‘A poorly designed housing market with an increasingly ageing population’. We have to look at this issue more urgently and with more creative thinking.

How do we measure our success?

We work to 5 key drivers that we share with clients and everyone who represents Re:model;

01) Re:duce the need for adult social care and demand on NHS services by incorporating design features to make home environments safer, healthier and happier.

02) Re:lease much needed housing for the younger generation by encouraging multigenerational living and smarter thinking to property redevelopment.

03) Re:form the building industry’s approach to addressing the UK’s climate change target of becoming net-zero emissions by 2050 by advising our clients on building in sustainability at every opportunity.

04) Re:flect on ourselves to having the highest trust and likeability rating of any business in the building industry by seeking out and developing strong relationships with the most authentic suppliers and contractors who want to actively support us on our mission.

05) Re:spond to playing our part in reducing loneliness for the elderly (such a huge and growing issue in the UK) by not just doing our job well in home design but by developing our own creative CSR initiatives.
